인쇄용으로 만들어진 용지.
인쇄용지는 잉크의 흡수성, 평활성, 백색도, 불투명도, 표면 강도, 내접도(耐折度), 두께, 평면도, 탄력성 등 인쇄에 적합한 인쇄 적성을 필요로 합니다.
용지의 종류에는 여러 가지가 있으며, 그 가운데에서 책자로 쓰이는 용지로는 상질지(아트지, 백상지 등), 중질지, 하급지의 구분이 있는데, 상질지는 고급 책자, 증권 용지 등에 쓰이는 고급 종이로서 표면이 평활하고 백색도가 높습니다.
아래에는 주로 일반 옵셋 인쇄에도 쓰이지만, 디지털 인쇄에 최적화된 용지 위주로 설명되어 있습니다.

Printing paper must offer the right printability — ink absorption, smoothness, whiteness, opacity, surface strength, folding endurance, thickness, flatness and elasticity.
There are many types of paper; among those used for books, stocks are graded as fine paper (e.g., art paper, woodfree paper), medium paper and lower-grade paper. Fine paper — used for premium books and securities — has a smooth surface and high whiteness.
The list below focuses on papers optimized for digital printing, though many are also used in standard offset printing.
